Position: Baker
Hours: Part-Time (roughly 15 hrs / wk)
We are actively seeking a part-time Baker! We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating allergen-friendly baked goods that don’t compromise on taste. This person would be responsible for managing the baked goods for one coffee shop location.
At Omega, we offer gluten-free baked goods (dairy free as well where possible) for customers to enjoy with their beverages. We aim for these to be clean while still being delicious! We’re looking for someone who is confident in the kitchen, especially with gluten-free baking. Baked goods should be moist in texture, vibrant in flavor, and beautiful in presentation!

Responsibilities:
⁃ Decide on weekly baked good menus, keeping things fresh, new, and seasonal
⁃ Manage quantities to be baked, ensuring there is stock while keeping waste to a minimum
⁃ Bake weekly baked goods for shop demands (baked goods should be moist in texture, vibrant in flavor, and beautiful in presentation!)
⁃ Trial new recipes to add to the Recipe Book
⁃ Bake with an aim to use the cleanest ingredients possible
⁃ Keep inventory for baking related ingredients and reorder items as needed
⁃ Do weekly grocery runs for fresh items needed
- Strategically acquire ingredients while balancing cost & quality, and be able to price out recipes
⁃ Maintain quality control and discard of any items that don’t meet company standards
⁃ Bake in compliance with health and safety regulations
⁃ Make in-house syrups and chai concentrate (training will be provided!)
Must be physically capable of standing for numerous hours at a time. Must also be able to lift 40+ pounds. Also requires strong time management skills!
The most ideal schedule would be baking Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for about 5 hour a day (time of day is flexible). Days of week could be flexible depending on the schedule & for the right person. Naturally, this role is more independent but plays a crucial part in the overall team & requires a team-player mentality!
